Lesson 3: The Great Pumpkin Rescue

It’s time for the great rescue! Here are the rules for the activity

• Every student will have 3 pumpkins in their field
• The goal is to transport each of your pumpkins in the shortest amount of time to the drop-off area which is 18in x 18in
• The pumpkin has to touch the ground within the square to be considered “dropped off”
• The student must land their drone, detach the pumpkin, put their CDM back in the starting position, and attach the next pumpkin
• Your CDM must go over an obstacle at least 12 inches high before landing in the drop zone

In order to do this activity we will need the following materials:

• Scissors
• Pumpkin templates
• Paperclips
• String
• Glue stick

Optional: If you have coloring materials color your pumpkins! They can be any color of your choosing!

Once our pumpkins are made we will be able to use a paperclip and string to attach them to the CoDrone Mini.

When setting up your course make sure that your takeoff area and landing area are at least 6 feet apart. You should also include an obstacle somewhere in between your takeoff and landing areas. Make sure that this obstacle is at least 12 inches tall. The taller your obstacle is the more challenging the activity can be! Lastly, make sure that you mark your takeoff area somehow! It doesn’t need to be a specific size but put something on the floor where you will take off each time!
