2.8: Master Level 2 Badge Challenge

To demonstrate your understanding of python and the CoDrone Mini, you will create a project that addresses one of the following scenarios:

Scenario 1:

• When Mars is closest to the Earth, the signals take 4 minutes to reach Earth. You will simulate sending commands using the input command with 4 second delays
• You are running a practice mission where you need to arrive at the crater before the sandstorm.
• You have 2 minutes to complete an obstacle challenge including the 4 second delays before the impending sand storm will prevent any more flying!

Scenario 2:

• Your drone’s signals take about 4 minutes to reach the basecamp the wildlife conservation organization is based at. With this mission, you will be sending signals with the input command, and each command will have a 4 second delay (1 second = 1 minute).
• A big storm is coming, and the animals you’re observing are on the move. You have 2 minutes to complete an obstacle challenge before the storm catches up with you and ruins your drone! The two minutes includes the input commands and delays.

To get started:

1. Choose  a scenario
2. Come up with a story for your mission.
   1. What will be the goal of the mission?
   2. What will the drone need to do to complete the mission?
   3. What value will this mission provide in relationship to the scenario you selected?
3. Determine what your mission will look like and write or type the steps that your drone will follow.
4. Make sure your mission meets the requirements listed below:

Mission Requirements

• Control Structures & Conditionals:
  • Must have at least 1 WHILE loop
  • Include at least 1 FOR loop used to create a 5 or more sided shape
  • Must include at least 2 conditionals
    • One must have an else
    • One must have an elif
• Input & Variables
  • Use the input() function to get user input at any point in the program
  • Convert user input to an integer at least once
  • Use at least 3 key commands to perform custom flight sequences
  • Use at least 3 variables (must demonstrate at least 2 types of variables)
• General Flight Rules:
  • Total flight time must be 120 seconds total
  • Use at least one Sequence
  • Use all 4 flight directions

Now that you have the mission requirements met and you have the steps your drone will complete, write the program. Make sure that you build your program in small parts. Do not try to write everything at once, instead break the program down into small steps and complete each step successfully before moving to the next.

Keep in mind the style and syntax discussed in the lessons. Your program should meet all style and syntax requirements for Python programs in order to be considered correct for this project.

Once you have completed your program and met all the flight requirements, you will need to create a presentation in the software of your choice that includes the following information:

1. Which scenario did you choose
2. What was the goal of your mission
3. What value did the mission provide based on the scenario you chose
4. A description of the steps your drone took to complete the mission including explanations of variables and values used for each step
5. What trim values did you set and what was the purpose of those trim values

Once you have completed all of the above steps and your instructor has verified that you have met the requirements below, you will be awarded the CoDrone Mini Master Level 2 Badge. Congratulations!

• Students should be able to explain any libraries they are importing and their purpose
• Demonstrate proper Python syntax
• Meets all flight requirements described in the Getting Started section
